Serve Our City and World

God cares deeply for the poor and marginalized. And, he calls us to care too.

Serve Our City

Redeemer partners with Hope for San Diego, a local nonprofit and mercy ministry committed to being the hands and feet of Jesus to our underserved neighbors. Throughout the year, there will be several chances to serve together as a community. But we also encourage you to learn more about ongoing volunteer opportunities by clicking the button below.

Lament & Hope
Lent 2023

Over the 40 days of lent, Hope For San Diego is offering opportunities to Learn and Serve alongside their affiliate organizations, who are on the front lines of seeing and caring for the most vulnerable in our city. Get to know one of the unique neighborhoods in our county, face the heavy issues plaguing our communities, and learn how to be part of the solution.

These projects are ideal for volunteers who want a deeper understanding of Hope for San Diego’s focus areas (homelessness, sex trafficking, foster care, immigrants & refugees) and are ready to invest in the renewal of our city. Find dates, locations, age limits, and ways to sign up below.

Illuminate
HFSD Fundraiser

Join like-minded friends for an evening of fun & inspiration at Hope for San Diego’s 2023 fundraiser, Illuminate, on March 19 at 6pm. Illuminate is the perfect way to introduce a friend or community group to the work of Hope for San Diego, Redeemer’s mercy ministry partner. Together, we’re bringing to light the challenges in our city so that everyone in San Diego can emerge from darkness, especially the most vulnerable.

“But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”

Medical community volunteers

“Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
