The YoungAdult (20s & 30s) classes meet at 9:30am on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month at Westmont of Encinitas (across the street from Redeemer). There is plenty of parking on El Camino Court.
January and February we will look at how the Gospel impacts our work. What is the purpose of work? Why is work so hard? Does work add to the meaning of my life or interfere with meaning in my life? How much is too much time on work? What if I hate work and wish I could do rest and relaxation all the time?
Our primary text will be Tim Keller’s book, “Every Good Endeavor.” We encourage you to order the book online.
Our schedule of topics and discussions will follow the book’s main divisions:
January 7 – Introduction to The Gospel’s Impact on Work
January 21 – God’s Plan for Work: 1) The Design of Work, 2) The Dignity of Work, 3) Work as Cultivation, 4) Work as Service
February 4 – Our Problems with Work: 5) Work Becomes Fruitless, 6) Work Becomes Pointless, 7) Work Becomes Selfish, 8) Work Reveals Our Idols
February 18 – The Gospel and Work: 9) A New Story for Work, 10) A New Conception of Work, 11) A New Compass for Work, 12) New Power for Work
