Paul was born in Hawaii but has lived in CA for most of his life. He met Linda at UC Berkeley and to his surprise, after a couple of years of pursuit, a relationship developed! They got married a few years after college, during which Paul attended seminary at Westminster CA. In 2001, the Kim family moved down to San Diego to plant a church. What began as a scratch start church has now developed into Redeemer San Diego! Paul enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 kids, eating good food, and rooting for the Chargers and Cal football.
Bryan is a Southern California native and grew up in the North Coastal San Diego area surfing and spending nearly every day in the ocean. He has an insatiable desire for being in the great outdoors amid the fauna and flora of God’s creation. Bryan married his wife Heather while they were in their early twenties and have two grown children- Christopher and Casey. Bryan serves the congregation at Redeemer though the care ministry of the church and has a passion to see the gospel transform people to their fullness in Christ. Bryan was called into the ministry in 1996, first serving at North Coast Presbyterian Church, and now at Redeemer. Prior to working full time in the ministry, Bryan worked as a pilot for a large international corporation and has extensive experience in real estate.
Jonathan grew up in a small town in western North Carolina. He attended Asbury University in Kentucky for undergrad and Gordon-Conwell in Boston for seminary. Jonathan and his wife Danielle moved into the city of Boston in 2006 where, for the better of a decade, Jonathan served Citylife Church, working with students from most of Boston’s major universities. Jonathan joined the Redeemer family in 2014 to work with college students and young professionals. For the past few years, Jonathan has served as the Pastor of Spiritual Formation and is beginning to actively explore church planting with Redeemer. He and Danielle have three kids, Mason, Penny, and Aaron. Jonathan enjoys a good run in the canyon, a cup of coffee, and epic Nerf wars with the kiddos.
Hunter grew up as a southern boy from Arkansas, but fell in love with Christ, urban cities, and missions around the world in college. He gave up his long-time dream of playing tennis and/or attending medical school to work with a campus ministry in Boston. After his first year in Boston he married his beautiful wife, Shelby, who has blessed his life more than words can describe. They are both passionate about the PCA and about helping their church to be all that God wants it to be. They have two sons, Ryder and Austin. They LOVE living in Encinitas and being part of such a healthy, thriving church. Please get a hold of Hunter, if you ever want to talk about mercy or missions…he lives for that!
Katherine is a Southern California native whose loves include cooking, music, the beach, and, most of all her husband Chad. They met at their previous church while both volunteering in the High School ministry and 3 years later they were married. Katherine received her degree in Biblical Counseling from The Master’s College and is very excited to be in her role serving the youth and families of Redeemer. She fell in love with Christ at a young age and is honored to hold a position in which she can help kids fall in love with Christ as well.
Kyler is a Midwest-boy, spending all of his life in Texas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. He graduated from Oklahoma State in 2009 with a Psychology degree and has been working in student ministry since college. Kyler married his best friend, Diana, and they have three awesome kids, Hannah Jane, Henry, and Holden. Kyler is enthusiastic, fun, and loves connecting with others. He enjoys a good run, playing basketball, drinking coffee, and holding babies. Kyler joined Redeemer in June of 2015 and has loved building relationships and pointing students to Jesus. Come say “hey” to him this week.
G’Joe Joseph met Jesus in high school, but his college years were a time of deep spiritual formation. After graduating, he worked at an engineering firm and volunteered with Campus Outreach (CO). This season is where God grew in him a deep appreciation for relational evangelism, leader development, and vocational discipleship. Since then, G’Joe has been on staff with Campus Outreach, first directing the ministry in South Carolina until expanding to the West Coast in 2012. G’Joe works with Redeemer’s college students and oversees CO ministries at SDSU, Point Loma, and UCSD. G’Joe and his wife, Aimee, have three sons, Tyus, Eli, and Phin.
Aimee is a wife to G’Joe and a mother to their three boys, Tyus, Eli and Phin. After coming to faith through YoungLife in high school, she was discipled in college through Campus Outreach, the ministry that brought them to San Diego. Aimee has a passion for the Word of God and to see women equipped to know Christ and to make Him known. She loves coffee, writing and all things theology. Aimee can be found chasing her children around museums and cheering too loudly on the sidelines of athletic events.
Dave grew up in Long Beach. He and his wife, Becky, met working in ministry at their home church. They have been married for over 35 years and have four adult children who love the Lord. Dave has his doctorate in Marriage and Family. After being a pastor for over 30 years, Dave and Becky started a non-profit counseling center: Restore and Rebuild. It has two locations: here at Redeemer and in Solana Beach. Additionally, he is working part-time at Redeemer as the Director of Adult Education and Men’s Ministries.
A native of San Diego, Peter grew up with a love of sports, which led him to play baseball at UC Davis, majoring in Psychology and Organizational Studies. There he met his wife Katy, also a college athlete. As students, they served in Athletes in Action (AIA), which led them to do a yearlong stint with AIA in Costa Rica. Peter has over 13 years of experience in ministry throughout churches in Northern California, Oregon, and San Diego and also holds a Master’s of Divinity degree. Peter enjoys coaching and mentoring people, talking theology, hanging out with his wife and three kids, and having his heart routinely broken by the San Diego’s sports teams. Peter loves serving at Redeemer and being a part of a gospel-centered church.
Cassie grew up in Clovis, California and moved to San Diego in 2013 to attend San Diego State. She came to faith her freshman year through Campus Outreach and loves seeing other college students transformed by the gospel. Between endless bowls of pho and trips to the beach, she met her husband Kyle and received her degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management. Cassie is excited to welcome people into the Redeemer family and help them get connected in the church.
Alex was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, and graduated from Wheaton College in 2007. He then spent two and a half years in Central America, where he learned Spanish working with missionaries in San Jose, and one year at International Justice Mission (IJM) in Guatemala City. In 2010, Alex moved to San Diego and has been leading worship on staff ever since. Alex married his amazing wife Lauren on New Years Eve 2013. Together they enjoy leading worship at Redeemer, working with the large homeless population of San Diego, and playing board games like nobody’s business.
Ally grew up in Greenville, South Carolina. She attended the University of South Carolina before moving to Missouri for a one-year Bible training program. She worked in Boston for four years with campus ministry and then headed back to South Carolina for a writing and communications job at a large healthcare system. She has her black belt in Lean Six Sigma and is thrilled to be working at Redeemer. Ally loves living in San Diego and enjoys traveling, tennis, learning new things, and eating good food with friends.
Laurie grew up in the Bay Area and graduated from UC Berkeley. She taught for several years and then met her husband Wayne at a Bible study. Avid Cal fans, they were married in Berkeley but soon moved down to San Diego where Laurie advanced her career as an elementary school administrator while Wayne worked on his doctorate. They found Harbor Carmel Valley (now merged with NCPC to become Redeemer) in 2008. Laurie became a stay at home mom and Wayne’s job took them to live in the VA area for a few years. Recently, God allowed them to return to the San Diego area and they now live in Encinitas. Wayne, Laurie, and their two children -Lucy and Warren- are eternally grateful and hopeful for a purposeful life serving the Lord in their community.
Tricia grew up in Minnesota, and loved the winter playground of skating, skiing, and snowmobiling, most right outside her back door. She left the land of igloos, after graduation, and moved to California in pursuit of waves, sunsets, and the Marine Corp. (Husband’s career). She enjoyed a successful career in finance/accounting with several companies over the years but none more called to, and blessed with, than working here at Redeemer (15 years and still loving it!). She has raised two daughters, and can say the life lessons learned have equipped her well for being a servant for God’s Kingdom work.
